NTT fixed line units to invest USD8.9bn in 2009/2010

Japanese telecoms giant Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (NTT) says its regional fixed line units NTT East and NTT West plan to invest JPY865 billion (USD8.9 billion) in CAPEX in the fiscal year starting 1 April 2009, Reuters reports. The two business units aim to add a total 2.5 million net new users to their fibre-optic internet networks in the coming financial year – in line with their forecast of 2.5 million net additions in FY2008/09. NTT East and NTT West had previously estimated signing up 2.8 million fibre-optic users in FY2009/10.
