Leap losses widen

Leap Wireless posted a fourth quarter 2008 loss of USD54.8 million, compared to a net loss of USD18.1 million in the year-ago period, as the company invested in network expansion. Total revenue rose 21% to USD518.9 million, but operating expenses increased by 26% for the quarter. Average revenue per user (ARPU) dropped to USD42.4. Leap said it added 385,000 net customers in the quarter, ending the period with nearly 3.84 million customers.
