US-based worldwide cable broadband network operator Liberty Global Inc (LGI) has reported a 17% year-on-year jump in revenues in 2008 to USD10.6 billion as it continues to see strong organic customer growth. Net losses increased from USD423 million in 2007 to USD789 million last year, though this was due primarily to non-operating items. During the fourth quarter, the company grew its subscriber base by 1.3 million ‘revenue generating units’ (RGUs), including 284,000 organic additions. This compared to average organic growth of 255,000 RGUs in the previous three quarters. For full-year 2008 LGI added 2.4 million customers, including one million organic RGU additions. It had 26.5 million RGUs at end-2008, including 15.6 million video customers, 6.2 million internet customers and 4.6 million telephony subscribers.
