23 Feb 2009

Chunghwa Telecom is expected to buy more than a million CPE units for its Very High Bitrate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) service in 2009. A report from DigiTimes, which cites Chinese-language Economic Daily News, says Taiwanese firms D-Link, Zyxel Communications and HwaCom Systems are among those vying for the equipment orders which could be worth up to TWD3 billion (USD86.5 million). Chunghwa, which is Taiwan’s largest broadband internet provider with more than 3.5 million subscribers, ordered 800,000 VDSL customer premises units in 2008.
