Tele2 Russia plans network expansion in 2009

18 Feb 2009

Russia’s fourth largest cellular operator, Tele2, says it is aiming to attract more than 600,000 new subscribers nationwide in the first half of this year. The company, which expects to launch operations in between ten and twelve new regions in 2009, says the global economic crisis should have little effect on its cut-price mobile packages, Bloomberg reports. The Swedish-owned Tele2 group has said it expects to spend around SEK4.7 billion (USD687 million) across all its operations this year, with up to SEK1.3 billion to be invested in Russia.
