NEC completes PASOLINK microwave installation for Optima

13 Feb 2009

NEC Corporation has announced the conclusion of a turnkey supply contract with Croatia’s largest alternative telco Optima Telekom, to install 40 ‘ultra-compact microwave communications system’ PASOLINK NEO hops (a total of 80 systems). Optima has been using telecoms equipment from NEC for four year, and it chose the PASOLINK NEO system in order to enhance its network of voice and data services for suburban areas of Croatia, and expand the coverage of voice, internet and IPTV services. Optima’s IP-based network covers more than 100 Croatian cities, with more than 2,000km of optical infrastructure, including NEC’s PASOLINK, to cover a potential one-third of the population. According to NEC, PASOLINK NEO’s competitive advantages over other wireless systems include its ability to handle different transmission speeds and interfaces with the same platform.
