Vimpelcom, Russia’s second largest cellular operator by subscribers, is requesting permission from the country’s Federal Financial Markets Service for the potential issue of bonds worth up to RUB30 billion (USD830 million), to be issued in three tranches of up to RUB10 billion. The bonds will be guaranteed by Vimpelcom and will have a proposed maturity period of five years. Vimpelcom says it intends to use the proceeds from the bonds for refinancing of its existing indebtedness denominated in foreign currency and the development of its core business.
