Afghan Telecom and Uzbektelecom sign agreement

According to the Afghani press, Afghan Telecom and Uzbektelecom have signed an agreement aimed at improving international links between their two countries of operation. Under the accord, the pair plan to complete a fibre-optic backbone connecting the two nations. A 360km link between Karshi (Uzebkistan) and Termez (on the Uzbek-Afghan border) was put into operation in November last year.
