Etisalat to sell iPhone 3G

Etisalat, the United Arab Emirate’s (UAE) largest cellco by subscribers, has signed a deal with Apple to sell its iPhone 3G. The device will go on sale in the UAE by the end of the month, and will also soon be available in Saudi Arabia through the cellco’s affiliate Ethiad Etisalat (Mobily). According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Etisalat had a wireless subscriber base of 7.3 million at end-2008, up 14% year-on-year.
