Vimpelcom completes Wi-Fi rollout

The Russian cellular operator Vimpelcom has completed the deployment of its public access Wi-Fi network, having installed 16,000 wireless access points in 40 cities. The Wi-Fi rollout, which was originally begun in Moscow by Golden Telecom, a fixed line operator acquired by Vimpelcom last year, has cost an estimated USD24 million RBC reports. The network has approximately 100,000 users.
