Telpin launches IPTV service

30 Jan 2009

Argentinean telco Cooperativa de Telefonos de Pinamar (Telpin) now offers internet protocol television (IPTV) services in the country, according to CanalAR. Telcos are currently banned from entering the pay-TV sector, but are allowed to launch video-on-demand (VOD) services until the legislation is modified. In the meantime, Telpin is operating an internet television portal called Telpin TV, offering VOD content such as local news, music and general interest shows. CEO of Telpin, Dario Oliver, said the service is framed within their triple-play project, and that the company ‘has worked hard recently to improve the quality of the network and to offer increasingly higher speeds. We hope to soon increase speeds to 8Mbps.’
