Telcos create IPTV association

The Italian telcos FastWeb, Wind and Telecom Italia have joined together to establish the Associazione Italiana degli operatori IPTV (Italian Association of IPTV Providers). The new group has been set up to ‘foster the use of IPTV in Italy and make an active contribution to the switch-off of analogue TV and the transition to digital by the end of 2012,’ they say. A report from IPTV News says the association plans to promote the development of a regulatory environment that encourages investment in IPTV, and will also create a technical board to contribute to the definition of unified technical standards for the delivery of television services.
