Israeli fixed line and broadband operator Bezeq has revealed plans to connect the city of Rishon LeZion to its next generation network (NGN), Globes Online reports. Rishon LeZion will be the third city that Bezeq connects to the new infrastructure, and the operator is expected to begin installing cabinets with NGN equipment in the near future. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database Bezeq announced in June 2008 that it would run pilot tests of the new infrastructure in two locations. It is planning to roll out a national IP-based network, and in December 2008 revealed plans to migrate all of its fixed line voice customers to VoIP services within a five-year period.
