Wireless broadband auction raises USD198m

Hong Kong regulator OFTA has announced the completion of the bidding stage of its national wireless broadband licence auction, with three provisional winners named. China Mobile Hong Kong (a.k.a. Peoples), CSL (repesenting CSL New World Mobility) and Genius Brand (a joint venture of PCCW and Hutchison Telephone Company 3) each won allocations of 6×5MHz in the 2500MHz-2690MHz frequency band for a combined price of HKD1.536 billion (USD198 million). Provisional licence winners must pay spectrum fees within 30 days.
