Paltel estimates USD10 million worth of damages following conflict

Globes Online is reporting that Palestinian Telecommunication Company (Paltel) has estimated the cost of damages to its network as a result of the recent Israeli military operations at USD10 million. According to Dr Abdul-Malik Al Jabar, Paltel’s CEO, a large part of the operator’s switching network has been destroyed, and a number of fibre-optic cables have been cut off from exchanges. In addition Mr Jabar, who is also the chairman of Palestinian Cellular Telecommunications Company (Palcel), noted that the mobile infrastructure had sustained significant damage, with a number of cellular sites having been hit and destroyed.
