Brazilian local telephony and internet access provider GVT says that in the first 134 days of number portability it won 22,346, or 40%, of the total 55,652 fixed line users switching their service provider, writes BNamericas citing a company statement. ‘If we consider only the number ported in the cities where we have operations, this percentage grows to 61%," GVT marketing and products manager Ricardo Sanfelice told BNamericas. Today, GVT is active in 61 of the approximately 4,000 municipalities currently serviced by number portability in the country. In total, NP now reaches 107.5 million users in 21 states. GVT has invested more than BRL1 billion (USD425 million) in the expansion of its networks since February 2007 and currently serves 80 cities, up from 62 previously, Sanfelice said.
