Government to spend on improving wireline penetration

The government of Paraguay has announced that it is investing USD235 million in the national fixed line operator Copaco. According to local press reports, the funds will be used to expand Copaco’s wireline and fixed-wireless user base and improve the availability of broadband internet services. The government wants to raise the number of fixed line users from the current level of around 400,000 to one million.
