Indotel begins bidding process for number portability system

The Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel), the Dominican telecoms regulator, has called for bids from companies interested in the role of administrator for the central systems for mobile number portability (MNP). Indotel has invited both national and international companies to bid, according to local press reports. The regulator has however stipulated that any company bidding must have a minimum of three years experience in the implementation of number portability, serving as an administrator for number portability systems. Companies that wish to acquire the necessary documentation can do so from 16 January, with bids expected to close on 23 February.
