China Mobile tries to drum up TD-SCDMA commitment

14 Jan 2009

China Mobile has urged overseas handset manufacturers to provide more types of TD-SCDMA handsets, and raised the possibility of reducing 2G handset orders from those suppliers which do not comply, internet portal Sina.com reports. China Mobile executives were reported to have said that if overseas suppliers do not ‘contribute’ to TD-SCDMA handset development orders for 2G handsets would be affected. At the end of December Nokia, Motorola and Samsung, had a total of just seven TD-SCDMA handsets.
