Telkomsel awarded rural services tender contracts

Indonesian mobile operator Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) has won two tenders worth a combined IDR534 billion (USD48 million) to provide telecoms services in rural parts of Java and Sumatra. Under the deal, Telkomsel will provide services in villages on Java Island at a cost of IDR201 billion, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The cellco will also provide telecoms access services in rural areas of eastern Sumatra for IDR333 billion, the ministry said.
