UNE-EPM merges with trio of cablecos

Colombian telecoms operator UNE-EPM Telecomunicaciones has merged operations with three subsidiaries, writes BNamericas citing local newspaper La Republica. According to the report, the telco merged with cable TV operators Emtelsa, Costavision and TV Cable Promision. UNE launched IPTV services last July in the capital Bogota and in Medellin, after having worked on its IPTV project for two years. To further strengthen its pay-TV base, in November last year, UNE acquired Cali-based cable TV operator Vision Satelite for USD30 million.
