Ecuador’s national state-owned fixed line operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) plans to invest USD7 million this year to deploy 20,000 fixed-wireless telephony lines in rural areas, reports BNamericas quoting local paper El Tiempo. The project will benefit 255 municipalities in Loja, Canar, Azuay, Morona Santiago and Zamora Chinchipe provinces, and will provide voice and internet access services. CNT was formed late last year from the merger of regional telcos Andinatel and Pacifictel.
