Rogers releases mobile, fixed, internet and cable user figures

Rogers Communications has released subscriber results for the end of 2008, showing that its post-paid wireless customer base reached 6.45 million at the end of December, up by 537,000 year-on-year, as its pre-paid mobile user total rose by 67,000 in a year to 1.49 million. Basic cable TV subscriptions increased by 25,000 to 2.32 million, whilst high speed internet customers totalled 1.58 million at the end of the year, up 117,000 in twelve months. Residential cable telephony subscribers reached 840,000 following annual net additions of 184,000, and residential circuit-switched fixed lines in service declined by 119,000 in the year to 215,000. The statistics include 60,000 customer migrations from circuit-switched to cable telephony in the twelve months ended 31 December 2008. During the fourth quarter, Rogers’ wireless division activated approximately 130,000 iPhone 3G devices, around 40% of which were accounted for by new subscribers.
