Alvarion deploys WiMAX for Linkem

The Italian WiMAX licensee AFT-Linkem has contracted Alvarion to supply its 4Motion solution for a network rollout in the 3.5GHz band. Deployments began in October last year; the first phase will target small and medium-sized business users and vertical markets. Linkem was awarded 3.5GHz licences covering 13 regions across Italy in early 2008. The concessions cover around 80% of the country’s population. It expects to complete its network deployments by 2013.
