Telstra calls for independent consultation on wholesale cost models

19 Dec 2008

iTWire is reporting that Australian incumbent Telstra has called on the government to assign an independent expert to assess wholesale cost models. Telstra has said that wholesale models formulated by both itself and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) should be reviewed. The telco argues that any doubts surrounding the current models for wholesale voice and copper access can only be removed by the introduction of a cost model expert. The call comes after the ACCC announced it was to begin a public consultation on a model commissioned to estimate a price for access to Telstra’s copper network.
