MOEA and Xhom partners sign WiMAX MOU

18 Dec 2008

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and US Xhom WiMAX collaborators Sprint Nextel and Clearwire have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on WiMAX development. They will work together to establish global roaming standards and allow Taiwan’s WiMAX networking and equipment providers to run interoperability tests locally. DigiTimes reported that Sprint Nextel Director of Global Development, Teresa Kellett, said the company hopes the collaboration will help increase WiMAX’s global reach, especially since Taiwanese companies make the majority of WiMAX related products.
