Vmax Telecom selects Samsung for WiMAX rollout

The Taiwanese WiMAX licence holder Vmax Telecom has selected Samsung to provide base stations, network access gateways and related equipment for the initial part of its WiMAX network rollout in the north of the country. The contract is for 200 base stations and related equipment and has a valuation of between TWD400 million and TWD500 million (USD12-15 million), CellularNews reports. Vmax Telecom plans to spend up to TWD2 billion on its network deployment in total. It has signed a roaming agreement with southern region WiMAX licensee Vastar Cable, giving it a nationwide footprint.
