Italy’s telecoms regulator Agcom is launching a public consultation into Telecom Italia’s charges for granting rivals unbundled access to its local loop infrastructure. The incumbent has filed a request with Agcom to increase its unbundling tariffs by EUR1.75 a month, but this was opposed by alternative operators who say the hike will reduce their margins by 10%. The regulator says it has now proposed a ‘significant reduction’ to the increase Telecom Italia has asked for. A final decision on the pricing is expected in January.
