VivaCell awards Intracom USD25m mobile expansion deal

Intracom Telecom of Greece has won a USD25 million network expansion deal to upgrade VivCall’s 2.5G mobile network in Armenia. Under the deal, Intracom will supply infrastructure works, installation and integration services in cooperation with Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent which will be the main equipment vendor. In a statement Intracom said the project is designed to allow VivaCell, the country’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, to expand the access capacity of its GSM/GPRS network. The work is scheduled to be completed by 31 March 2009.
