16 Dec 2008

According to Telecom Tiger Mumbai-based cellco BPL Mobile has selected hardware vendor Motorola to optimise its network. The deal will see Motorola provide its Multi-Vendor Intelligent Optimisation Service (MVIOS) solution, which the US-based firm claims will allow BPL to reduce CAPEX, minimise traffic loss, increase service coverage and improve service reliability amongst other things. Commenting on the deal, Sanjeev Chachondia, BPL’s CEO, said, ‘BPL Mobile, in its endeavour to provide superior customer service to its subscribers, was looking for a well optimised network with a high grade of service. Motorola’s MVIOS solution…will help us in serving subscribers better and de-congesting networks, resulting in enhanced voice clarity and better services.’ No financial details of the deal have been revealed.
