LG Telecom sets 4G target date of 2013

According to South Korean news source Maeil Business Newspaper, citing comments from LG Telecom CEO Jung Il-jae, the telco plans to launch 4G mobile services in 2013. Jung said, ‘Further upgraded 4G mobile communications service will be provided beginning 2013 upon establishing a nationwide network…once low-band frequency is secured next year.’ The operator will focus on securing spectrum in the 800MHz-900MHz range in 2009. Jung revealed that the telco would disagree with plans to auction spectrum for such frequencies, due to SK Telecom already holding 800MHz frequency.
