J:COM in USD303m bid for CATV rival Mediatti

Japanese multiservice operator (MSO) Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) has revealed plans to acquire 100% of smaller CATV rival Mediatti Communications for JPY28 billion (USD303 million), Reuters reports citing people familiar with the situation. An official announcement is expected shortly. The move forms part of J:COM’s strategy to shore up its domestic presence by buying up smaller regional cable operators and offer new services to attract new customers.
