Telstra and Ericsson make successful call on commercial HSPA+ network

ITWire is reporting that Australian incumbent Telstra, in partnership with hardware vendor Ericsson, have made a successful data call on the former’s new HSPA+ network. The call, which Telstra claims is the world’s first on a commercially deployed network, was made on 5 December 2008. The new network will offer download speeds of up to 21Mbps and upload speeds up to 5.8Mbps. A full commercial launch is expected in early 2009.
