Bezeq reaches one million broadband customers

8 Dec 2008

Israeli incumbent Bezeq has announced that it has passed the one million subscriber mark for broadband services, Reuters is reporting. The telco had previously reported that in the three months to September 2008 it added 12,000 high speed internet customers, bringing its total at that date to 994,000. Bezeq has also revealed that it expects 25% of its existing internet subscribers to upgrade their service speeds in 2009; it estimates more than 50% currently use services in excess of 2Mbps. The operator offers speeds up to 8Mbps but is in the process of rolling out a next generation network to increase speeds to up to 50Mbps.
