CMT cuts ULL costs by 20%

5 Dec 2008

The Spanish telecoms regulator, the Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT), has announced a reduction of almost 20% in the cost of wholesale unbundled local loop access. Following a review of incumbent Telefonica’s operating costs for 2006 the regulator ruled that a 19.9% reduction in the wholesale price must be made. This will bring the cost of local loop access to EUR7.79 (USD9.89) per month. The regulator has also updated the price for wholesale fixed line access, increasing it by 2.8% and 0.6% for analogue and ISDN connections respectively. The monthly surcharge for ‘naked’ DSL services was also increased, rising 1.1% to EUR9.55.
