4 Dec 2008

Monaco Telecom has announced its decision to sell its 40% stake in Tunisian broadband provider Divona Telecom to Planet Tunisie, giving the latter 100% ownership. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database Divona Telecom was awarded a trial WiMAX concession in 2006 and by June 2007 had rolled out infrastructure in Tunis and Sfax, with Djerba, Nabeul and Hammamet next in line. In January 2008 it selected Redline Communications’ RedMAX suite of products for a five-city WiMAX network. The USD1 million network build-out will take place in several phases over the next two years, and will connect the cities of Tunis, Nabeul, Souse, Monastir and Sfax.
