Embratel, Transit to offer 1900MHz fixed-wireless services

4 Dec 2008

Brazilian telecoms operators Embratel and Transit Telecom have been granted permission by the industry regulator Anatel to expand their fixed-wireless networks, BNamericas reports citing local press as saying. Both operators submitted requests to use wireless in the local loop (WiLL) technology, following which the watchdog decided to authorise the use of the 1900MHz band for fixed-wireless services without the need to hold a licence. Embratel and Transit expect to provide fixed-wireless broadband services in 102 municipalities across the country.
