EC calls on watchdog to disclose termination rates

4 Dec 2008

The European Commission (EC) has asked the Bundesnetzagur to notify it of the mobile termination rates charged by each German cellco. In a letter published today, the EC stated that it considers the fees to be high in Germany compared with those in other member states. The German regulator has now failed twice to notify the EC of the rates, and the Commission has gone on record as saying that if the watchdog fails to comply, it will consider opening an infringement proceeding for non-compliance with EU legislation.
