Tele2 expands into Kaliningrad

Tele2 Russia has acquired Digital Expansion’s mobile network in the Kaliningrad region for nearly SEK150 million (USD18.8 million) in cash on a debt free basis. Digital Expansion operates an 1800MHz GSM licence in the region with a population of approximately one million. Its current customer base of 5,000 will be integrated into Tele2’s existing operations. After completion of the transaction, Tele2 Russia will be present in 35 regions with total population coverage of approximately 61 million.
