PCCW Global Limited (PCCW Global), a leading MPLS VPN provider, has announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Jordanian telco NEU Telecom & Technologies (NEU) to extend connectivity into Jordan. Under the agreement, NEU and PCCW Global will provide a portfolio of integrated global communications solutions and value added services that address the needs of enterprises across Jordan and the region. Pursuant to the agreement, PCCW Global will build a point of presence (PoP) at NEU’s Amman data centre.

PCCW Global EMEA senior vice president Frederick Chui said: ‘This strategic partnership with NEU reinforces PCCW Global’s commitment to expanding into emerging markets and increasing network coverage to more than 1,000 cities and 80 countries. We are confident that our customers will enjoy high-quality performance and service throughout our global network and infrastructure.’

NEU has been granted an individual licence by Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) for the purpose of delivering state-of-the-art, reliable, cost-effective data, internet and transmission services. As part of the move, NEU has signed an agreement to utilise NEPCO’s (National Electric & Product Company) spare fibre-optic capacity in the provision of next generation networking based on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology and internet services via various international access routes. In addition, NEU has signed another agreement with Jordan’s Ministry of Information & Communications Technology to benefit from a national optical fibre project between Amman and Aqaba.
