Telecom Italia trialling FTTH

25 Nov 2008

Telecom Italia has begun trials of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services under the name Alicefibra. Local newspaper La Repubblica quotes the telco’s Head of Business Innovation and Marketing Strategy, Luca Tomassini, who says: ‘We are already trialling, and will be ready to offer in 2009, at least in some big cities, the solution Alicefibra.’ The FFTH service will offer high speed internet access with download speeds of up to 100Mbps, as well as IPTV services and other value added services.
