Chunghwa aims for 550,000 new MOD users in 2009

Chunghwa Telecom has said it aims to add 550,000 subscribers on its fibre-optic networks next year. The telco is expanding capacity by adding 900,000 ports on its FTTx networks, DigiTimes reports. Chunghwa expects to increase its fibre subscriber base from its forecast of 1.05 million at the end of this year to 1.6 million by end-2009. It provides four tiers of high speed internet access over its Multimedia On Demand (MOD) FTTx network, with peak speeds of 3Mbps, 10Mbps, 50Mbps and 100Mbps.
