Brazil: 144.8 million mobile phones in circulation at end-October

20 Nov 2008

According to preliminary data published by the telecoms regulator Anatel, Brazil was home to 144.8 million mobile lines at the end of October, up four million (2.8%) on the previous month. The strong growth last month was the third highest monthly total ever recorded, driven by an aggressive marketing campaign by Oi (Telemar) to kick off its entrance into the Sao Paulo market.
