MTN to launch seamless roaming

19 Nov 2008

The South Africa-based cellular operator MTN says it is introducing seamless roaming across its 21 operations in Africa and the Middle East. The new ‘One World’ service will be launched in the first half of next year and will allow MTN subscribers to receive free incoming calls while roaming on sister networks in other countries. Calls made while roaming on MTN networks in other countries will be charged at the local rate. Another pan-African cellular operator, Kuwait-based Zain, already offers a similar service under the ‘One Network’ banner, providing seamless international roaming to 46 million subscribers in 16 countries.
