Strong Wind knocks down debt

17 Nov 2008

The Italian fixed line and mobile operator Wind has reported a net profit of EUR275 million (USD346 million) for the nine months to the end of September, reversing a loss of EUR55 million in the same period last year. Revenues were up at both its wireline and wireless divisions, with total group sales rising 5.8% to EUR4.1 billion. The strong cash flow has meant net debt has fallen EUR465 million in the first nine months of this year to stand at EUR5.98 billion at end-September. Broadband internet subscriber numbers have risen by 33% over the past year to reach 1.25 million, while mobile customers are up 7.1% year-on-year at 16.4 million.
