French construction to telecoms conglomerate Bouygues has posted a 10% year-on-year rise in third-quarter revenue from EUR8 billion (USD10 billion) to EUR8.81 billion, fuelled by strong growth in its construction and real-estate activities, and a steady performance from its telecoms arm. Bouygues Telecom revenues for the three months to 30 September increased 5.3% to EUR1.29 billion from EUR1.23 billion in the third quarter of 2007. The unit, France’s third largest mobile operator by revenues and subscribers, reported a 6.5% increase in sales for the first nine months of 2008 to EUR3.75 billion. Sales from network services rose by 5.1% despite an 8% cut in call termination charges and the regulation of roaming charges.
As at 30 September 2008 Bouygues Telecom had 9.327 million mobile subscribers, of which 7.042 million, or 75.5% of the total user base, were on monthly call plans, 1.8 points more than at the same time in 2007.
