Brazilian online media portal and internet company Universo Online (UOL) said its third-quarter revenue from advertising and other services for the three months to 30 September 2008 climbed 58% year-on-year to BRL73.3 million (USD31.5 million), while broadband subscribers rose 16%. UOL’s EBITDA for the three months under review was BRL29.1 million, down 22% year-on-year. The EBITDA margin was 20%, down eight percentage points on Q3 2007, it said. Excluding non-recurring items in the period, EBITDA remained stable from the previous year. The number of paying broadband subscribers reached 1.13 million in September 2008, an increase of 16% over September 2007.
