The US wireline carrier Windstream Corp has seen third-quarter profits drop 10% to USD105.9 million on the back of continued customer losses. Windstream reported 3.08 million access lines in service at the end of September, down 4.8% on the year-earlier figure. It lost 38,000 customers in the third quarter, though this was better than analyst forecasts of around 42,000, Reuters reports. Revenues declined 3% to USD794.1 million. Windstream did add 28,000 new high speed internet customers in the three months to end-September, taking its total broadband user base to 963,000.
