Losses at LGI despite sales growth

The US-based international cable TV group Liberty Global Inc (LGI) has reported third-quarter revenue growth of 17% to USD2.65 billion. It saw a net loss of USD309 million, down from a profit of USD40 million in the same period last year, though the year-ago figures were boosted by a one-off gain of USD553 million following the disposal of a number of assets. LGI, which has operations across western and eastern Europe, plus Asia and Latin America, added 441,000 net new revenue generating units (RGUs) in the three months to the end of September, ending the period with 25.1 million RGUs, including 14.7 million video customers, 5.9 million broadband internet accounts and 4.5 million telephony subscriptions.
