Turkcell, the number one Turkish mobile operator, will invest USD600 million in 2G mobile services in 2009. Chief Executive Sureyya Ciliv said the company will also invest in 3G services, but the size of the investment will be determined by conditions attached to a tender for a 3G license to be held on 28 November 2008.

Last week, Turkcell said it increased third quarter net profit by 51% to USD603.8 million compared to the same period twelve months earlier and had expanded its subscriber base to 36.3 million as of 30 September 2008.
